About Tinder
Tinder is an online dating and geosocial networking application. In Tinder, users create a profile with photos and a short bio, then swipe left or right to indicate their interest in other users. If two users both like each other, "it's a match", and they are able to chat within the app. Tinder is available in over 40 languages. Tinder was founded in 2012 by Sean Rad, Jonathan Badeen, Justin Mateen, Joe Munoz, Dinesh Moorjani, and Whitney Wolfe. The app was launched in October that year. In February 2014, Tinder acquired the mobile messaging company Tappy for an undisclosed amount. By March 2014, Tinder had about 50 million active users across 196 countries. In June 2017, Tinder launched Tinder Gold, a members-only service, offering exclusive features such as "Likes You", which allows users to see who likes them before they swipe; "Passport", which allows users to change their location to anywhere around the world; and "Rewind", which allows users to undo their last left swipe. In October 2015, Tinder released the Super Like feature worldwide. This allows non-Tinder Plus users to Super Like one profile every 24 hours for free. Tinder Plus users have up to five Super Likes a day. In January 2016, Tinder introduced the "BOOST" feature. BOOST allows users to make their profile the top profile in their area for thirty minutes, showing their profile to more potential matches. In September 2017, Tinder announced that it would be opening a physical space in New York City called the "Tinder Lounge" where users can come to meet and mingle with other Tinder users. The space will also be used for parties and other events.
