About Entertainment Weekly
Entertainment Weekly is an American digital-only entertainment magazine based in New York City, published by Dotdash Meredith, that covers film, television, music, Broadway theatre, books, and popular culture. The magazine debuted on February 16, 1990, in New York City. The magazine has a content partnership with the website PopSugar. In January 2015, the websiteBuzzFeed announced that it would be hiring Entertainment Weekly staff to create "more engaging content" for its own site. In July 2015, Meredith Corporation announced that it was buying Time Inc., which included EW's parent company,Time Warner. The combined company would be known as Meredith Corporation. In February 2016, it was announced that Entertainment Weekly would be moving its headquarters to the floor of One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. The magazine's new office is on the 14th floor of the building, which is also home to Meredith's other titles, including People, Sports Illustrated, InStyle, and Real Simple. In May 2017, Entertainment Weekly was purchased by Valence Media, which also owns The Hollywood Reporter. Dotdash is the company's new CEO, effective immediately. Dotdash has also announced that they are "exploring options" for the future of the print edition of EW. In September 2018, it was announced that the print edition of Entertainment Weekly would be ending with the November 9, 2018 issue. The magazine will continue to be published digitally. In October 2018, Meredith Corporation announced that it was selling a majority stake in Entertainment Weekly to Rolling Stone owner Jann Wenner. The deal gave Wenner Media a 49 percent stake in the magazine. Meredith Corporation will continue to own a 51 percent stake. In December 2018, it was announced that Entertainment Weekly would be getting a new editor-in-chief, Henry Goldblatt. Goldblatt was previously the editor of PEOPLE.
